Hold your gap and force the bounce. B PARROT hits the A or B gap off the guard. Do NOT get reached by the guard — if you get reached, the backside cut is gone and they spring the RB into the secondary. Drive your hands inside the guard's frame. Push the pile. Make the LB's life easier by staying square.
This play went 67 yards with TRAIN motion — their longest run. The RB cut back after the initial gap closed. If the DL holds their gaps, this is a 3-yard run. Don't over-pursue the initial gap.
When the guard pulls, don't chase him. PARROT GUARD uses a guard pull to the right — this is the tell. The ball follows the pull. Your job is to not follow the guard outside — hold your B-gap. If you chase the pull, you leave an A-gap cutback lane for the RB. Stay home. Let your DE chase the pull.
Guard pull tells: watch the playside guard's first step. If he steps laterally away from you at the snap, he's pulling. Slam your gap, don't follow the guard.
DINO hits B-gap right from Trio formation. TRIO is 62.5% run — alert immediately. On DINO, your 3-tech should slant right into the B-gap at the snap. Don't wait for the RB to commit. The center and guard are double-teaming the NG — you're free to slant right. Attack the gap before the pulling lineman gets there.
Under TEA is 75% run. When you see Under TEA, be ready to two-gap or rip inside. PARROT LEAD has a lead fullback — the FB will come at you. Don't let the FB's block reach you. Strike first with your hands inside the FB's chest, disengage, and make the tackle on the RB. The A-gap is your priority from the NG position.
The moment you see Trio, call it out to your LBs. Stack the box in your mind. They run B PARROT and DINO from Trio. Be ready to slant right into B-gap on the snap. Don't wait for the ball to move — fire into the gap on the first movement.
STACK is always a pass. Don't play run. Instead — this is your chance to rush. From STACK, they're in shotgun — time your pass rush. Use your best move (slant inside or swim move). Get your hands up on the QB's launch point. This is your sack opportunity.
Under TEA is their heavy-box run formation. They'll double-team your NG. If you're the 3-tech, you're 1-on-1 with the guard. This is your best chance to make a backfield play. Rip inside at the snap — beat the guard to the gap before he can engage.
STACK = 100% pass = rush hard. Don't play two-gap. Don't read-and-react. From STACK, you know it's a pass — get off the ball on the first movement. Use an inside slant to cut off the guard's inside hand, then rip through to the QB. QB is likely in shotgun — don't give him an easy pocket to step into.
On passing downs, they may try to double your best DT. If you feel two blockers, work your escape angle: anchor first (don't get pushed back), then rip to the side of the weaker blocker. Your job on a double team is to occupy blockers and free up the edge rushers — you don't need to be the one making the sack.
Watch for the center's head bob or the QB's first sound. Don't false start chasing a fake cadence — they may try to draw you offside on 3rd down. But also don't give them a free half-second — get off on the first true movement. Watch the ball, not the QB's voice.
Under center = more likely to be a run. Shotgun = pass-tendency increases. From STACK (shotgun), rush immediately. From UNDER TEA (under center or close snap), settle into your gap first, then pursue.
This 67-yard TD happened because interior defenders chased the guard pull. DT: when the guard pulls, YOU stay in your gap. The RB hits the A/B gap BEFORE reaching the puller. If you chase the pull, the RB cuts off your back. Maintain your gap — the LB scrapes over the puller.

DINO from TRIO hits the C/B-gap right. The OG and C combo-block the nose tackle before the C climbs to the MLB. 3-tech must slant to B-gap at the snap — beat the combo before the C can release. Stack with your inside shoulder, don't let them reach you. Be low and penetrate before the double team sets.

Under TEA 3rd & short. A fullback/lead blocker hits the A/B gap first, RB follows. Your job: occupy two blockers. Don't let yourself be single-blocked and washed. Fight across the blocker's face, stay square. If you get washed, the lead back seals you and the RB runs free. This hit for 5 yards on 3rd & 2.

PANDA LEAD GUARD — similar to B PARROT but hits the C/D gap area. Guard pulls right, RB follows through the C-gap. Interior DT key: when the guard pulls, occupy the center-guard double team, then redirect. Don't get sealed. Force the RB to bounce outside where the LBs and safeties can clean up.

STACK formation = 100% pass. On first movement, DT attacks the A-gap inside — interior pressure forces quicker QB release. Watch the center's set: if he opens inside, there's a A-gap slant available. First step gets you there before the tackle can help inside.
